DOGGR Issues Revised Laws
Substantial revisions were made to the California Laws for Conservation of Petroleum & Gas (PRC01) during 2008. DOGGR Announces the Release of the 2009 Calendar
The 2009 DOGGR calendar features a panoramic view of the Kern River oil field on the front, and the history of the field on the back. DOGGR Issues Notice to Operators Regarding New Notices of Intention
A Notice to Operators was issued regarding revisions that have been made to the Notice of Intention to Drill New Well (Form OG105), Notice of Intention to Rework/Redrill Well (Form OG107), Notice of Intention to Abandon/Reabandon Well (Form OG108), and Supplementary Notice (Form 123). Effective January 1, 2009, all operators must use the new Notices when applying for permits from DOGGR. The revised forms are available from your local district office or online by clicking here.
DOGGR Announces District 5 (Coalinga) Well Records Available Online
Oil and gas well records are now available online at the DOGGR's Online Well Record Search web application for many of the wells located in DOGGR District 5 (Coalinga area). Well records (including logs) for about 5,700 wells (out of the district total of 13,000 wells) have been scanned and are available by clicking here.
Pipeline Safety Notifications and Changes
Due to recent amendments to federal pipeline safety law the State Fire Marshal’s Office of Pipeline Safety (SFM) has issued a notification to pipeline operators to explain the changes. All pipelines under SFM jurisdiction are exempt from DOGGR jurisdiction and therefore may result in changes to an operator’s pipeline management plan (required under CCR §1774).
The SFM notification and a copy of the Federal Register containing the changes to federal law are available to view and download.
2007 Annual Report Tables
Pursuant to Section 3108 of the Public Resources Code, DOGGR is posting the following three tables from the 2007 Annual Report of the State Oil and Gas Supervisor showing:
1. The amount of oil and gas produced by county for 2007.
2. The Division’s financial statement for the previous fiscal year.
3. The amount of delinquent and uncollected assessments.
The 2007 Annual Report of the State Oil and Gas Supervisor will be available online in the near future.
DOGGR Announces New Assessment Rate
The assessment rate for oil and gas produced in California has been set at $0.0790758 for fiscal year 2008/09. The assessment goes to support DOGGR. For more information on the Assessment Process, click here.
2007 Preliminary Annual Report Released

Division of Oil, Gas, And Geothermal Resources
The Division oversees the drilling, operation, maintenance, and plugging and abandonment of oil, natural gas, and geothermal wells. The regulatory program emphasizes the wise development of oil, natural gas, and geothermal resources in the state through sound engineering practices that protect the environment, prevent pollution, and ensure public safety.
